Run your own Webfaze site in developer mode. It lets you install your file directly and run it on demand. Site owners never see these tools.

You need

  • Node.js 22.15 or newer.
  • The latest Webfaze from webfaze.com Account → Downloads.
  • An active licence on the test site. Installing any extension asks webfaze.com first. Test addresses such as localhost, *.test and staging.* don't use one of your licence's sites.

Start in developer mode

node webfaze.cjs install # first time only
WEBFAZE_DEV_EXTENSIONS=1 node webfaze.cjs start

On Windows PowerShell: $env:WEBFAZE_DEV_EXTENSIONS='1'; node webfaze.cjs start.

Get a starter file

node webfaze.cjs extension my-extension writes my-extension.js, a working extension that installs as it is.

Install and try it

  1. Open Extensions. At the bottom there's a Developer mode box.
  2. Paste your file and press Review this file. You see the same permissions screen site owners will.
  3. Add it, then open its details and press Run now to run it once with a sample event, without publishing anything.
  4. Check its Activity for the result, what it logged, and any error.

Then try it for real

Publish a post, send a form, or wait for its timer, and check Activity again. Try every event your manifest lists, with and without its settings filled in.

Before publishing

Go through the checklist in the developer guide (Account → Developer guide), then publish it on webfaze.com.
