Webfaze keeps the previous version next to the new one, and saves a full backup before every update from the Console.
If the Console still works
- Open Tools.
- Under Updates, press Go back to the previous version.
- Restart: Restart now if it's offered, otherwise restart the app from your hosting panel.
If the Console won't load
- On the server, find the folder with
webfaze.cjs. The old version is beside it aswebfaze.cjs.previous. - Rename the new
webfaze.cjsto something else and renamewebfaze.cjs.previoustowebfaze.cjs. Or download the earlier version from webfaze.com Account → Downloads → Earlier versions. - Restart the app.
Your data folder isn't touched by updates, and database changes in updates only add things, so the older file runs on the same data.
If the update didn't install
- "Couldn't check" in Tools, with a reason: usually the server couldn't reach webfaze.com, or the licence isn't active.
- A message saying Webfaze can't replace itself: your server doesn't let Webfaze write its own file (the safer setup). Update by hand: download the new
webfaze.cjsfrom Account → Downloads, replace the file and restart. - Installed, but still the old version: the new version only starts after a restart. Tools shows A new version is installed until you restart.
Webfaze installs a release only when its signature and checksum match, so a damaged download is refused rather than installed.
The backup: each update saves a full backup in the data folder's backups/ folder, named after the version and date. You can restore it from Tools → Backups if you ever need to.
If you're still stuck, post in Fixing problems with the version numbers and the app's log.
